“Jerry spent a day squatting under spider webs, his camera pointed up to the sky. The light silhouetted the orb weaver, while a hint of flash lit the dewdrop spider in the foreground. The relationship between the two spiders is complex and can work to their mutual benefit. Dewdrop spiders are known to lure more prey to orbweaver webs - attracting moths with their silvery markings that mimic moonlight. Some species of dewdrop spiders, however, are known to feed on orb weavers. They often target their hosts when they’re most vulnerable, attacking while the orb weavers are molting and can’t defend themselves.” -Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2023
